Scrolling Addiction

The iPhone has this cool feature that tracks average screen time. I caught my average screen time going up and found that one of the reasons why is because of my scrolling habit. When using social media, I have the need to keep scrolling through my screen without end. I put a curfew on the apps, but it was hard not to turn that curfew off. Then, while I was reciting kriat shma, I came across v’lo taturu acharei levavchem v’achharei einechem, “And you will not follow after you heart and after your eyes.” While reciting this I pass the tzitzit over my eyes and kiss them. I have in mind that Hashem should protect my eyes from being glued to my phone and to be protected from the incessant urge to look just for the sake of looking.
