    Thank you so much for this poignant and on-point piece.
    It makes me think of the importance and role played by our hope, קוה אל ה׳, how the “hav” is the string our cord (the untied…) that attaches us to Hashem.

    I heard this morning in Rabbi Yudin’s radio shiur, how we raven every day, “וְאַל תְּבִיאֵֽנוּ לֹא לִידֵי חֵטְא וְלֹא לִידֵי עֲבֵרָה וְעָוֹן וְלֹא לִידֵי נִסָּיוֹן.” On the one hand, we ask to spared from test. Yet they do come, and why is a complex discussion. Rabbi Yudin’s response was that it is for the tested and, further, he underscored what you wrote: “Our job is to respond properly to our adverse opportunities.” If given tests, it’s on us how we receive and respond to them.
