      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then,
When that hour tells me, “Start being more hopeful?”

      Do I relegate my eicha,
How this has come to be,
As reality, the past, or even the present?

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

      Or do I move forward,
      And if so, how?
To a hope of Tzion, of redemption, a dream?

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

Is Chatzot the Havdalah between despair and hope?
Should Chatzot truly end my past?
Is Chatzot a moment in time and space, a moed of itself?

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

Is Chatzot that opportunity to make concrete my prayer?
Is Chatzot my fate as a “ben oni,”
Stuck in a place of “It’s all up to you?”

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

Should Chatzot always be a tikkun,
For me to fix my past
      And shape my future?

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

      We finish our afikomen now,
But need to savor its taste,
To be ever aware of our past and future.

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

Pesach night and fast days noon,
      Yerushalayim, every night.
      Chatzot shapes our daily prayers.

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

      From conception to learning to speak;
      From a first chidush to a siyum Shas;
From a chuppah to a bris.

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

      And that final Chatzot.

      Wrapped in shrouds, tahor.
The divider between Shamayim and aretz
Blending Olam Hazeh to Olam Habah.

How will I see that Chatzot?

Has my Chatzot been chaitzi, a half?
      Nishte hi, nishte heir,
      Neither here nor there?

Have I connected each Chatzot to my past and future?
Have I used our Chatzot for growth and hope?
Has my Chatzot brought cause to celebrate?

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?

Just like the molad assigned to every new chodesh,
Chatzot must also have an appointed hour and chalakim,
Providing us with our own chalakim—our portions.

      And that moment moves forward.
Is it with or without awareness
Of what was and what will be?

      That next moment—what will be,
      Must also become chadash,
Our chidush, our kiss from Shamayim.

      When is Chatzot?
      What will I do then?
