      הָפַֽכְתָּ מִסְפְּדִי לְמָחוֹל לִי פִּתַּחְתָּ שַׂקִּי וַתְּ֒אַזְּ֒רֵֽנִי שִׂמְחָ  (Mizmor Shir Chanukas Habayis)

The way I understand the Ibn Ezra on this pasuk we say at the opening of Pesukei D’zimra, is that when one recognizes what Hashem does, His Good, it fills him with joy to serve His Creator.  This connects one to the purpose of one’s creation.

      Two simple steps:

      1. Recognize Hashem’s Deeds
      2. Become filled with joy therefore to serve Hashem

Doing this connects one to his or her purpose of creation which is joyful.

Dovid Hamelech thanks Hashem for transforming his mourning, feeling of death to dancing with exultation.  He also thanks Hashem for strengthening his soul to access this joy.
